Catskill's manufactured items are made from naturally self-sustaining, non-endangered North American hardwoods, primarily birch and hard rock maple. Lumber is purchased from area sawmills, then dried, manufactured, and packaged on site. All sawdust, shavings and waste materials generated during the manufacturing process is converted into wood pellet fuel, and used to heat homes. Catskill is proud to say, "our operations generate no wood waste".

The island is much better quality than I expected for the price. It is heavy duty and very attractive. Be sure to lay out all the parts as described before assembly - I mixed up a couple of washers, so be careful there. The directions were fairly easy to follow except for one step near the end where instead of telling you what do, it asks a question. I would not have been able to assemble it by myself, and my husband felt the same about not being able to do it without me. We both agreed I am the brain while he is the brawn with this task. A smart agile person can do it by themself - for the most part. The design of it is ingenious.

While it looks nice, this island is not tall enough for standard stools to fit comfortably. In order to use it as a place to eat/snack we had to add risers - which kind of destroyed the look!

Great solution for a tiny kitchen. Take your time with the instructions and it really is not that hard to put together. Only rec would be to get some sort of oil for the finish to protect from water stains.
